I was privileged to attend a session with Graeme Codrington yesterday. In this session, we unpacked preparing for 2021 and reflected on virtual working environments.

To be honest, this session could not have come at a better time for me. Here is what I took out of it, there are 3 aspects of focus for Entrepreneurs:

  1. You
  2. Your Team
  3. The Organisation

The You,  think often gets neglected and doing so is really the most dangerous of not attending to either of these. These disruptive times are a marathon, not a race, the journey is a book, not a page. So with that in mind, mental health and a healthy pace have never been more critical.

About the Team, it is essential to consider how you will support them in these trying times. What level of flexibility can you offer. From a remote working perspective and from a perspective of leadership culture.

Mindfulness exercises for the group as well as leadership training and delegation of authority could serve you well.

The organisation is vital to building a flexible yet credible relationship and a structure that carries you through these uncertain times.

The reflection has been absolutely refreshing, and I will definitely implement many of these tips or refine those I already have in place.

The Art of Bonsai and the Growth of Business: Parallels in Patience, Precision, and Persistence

Bonsai is more than just a small tree in a pot; it is a centuries-old Japanese art form that represents balance, harmony, and control over nature through careful nurturing. At its heart, bonsai is about shaping, sculpting, and guiding a living organism to reach its fullest potential, but this can only be done with immense patience, foresight, and careful attention to detail.
In many ways, growing and managing a business mirrors the process of cultivating a bonsai tree. Both require strategic thinking, adaptability, and a long-term vision. In this blog, we’ll explore the fascinating parallels between the art of bonsai and the world of business and how lessons from one can enrich the other.
